Frequently Asked Questions
Straight answers. No marketing fluff. If your question isn’t here, open the support chat.
Is Magnum Wallet safe?
+Yes. Magnum is fully non-custodial, private keys are generated and stored only on your device, encrypted with AES-256. We never have access to your funds.
What cryptocurrencies does Magnum support?
+Magnum supports 150+ cryptocurrencies including BTC, ETH, XRP, LTC, Tezos, TRON, Monero, Zcash, Cosmos, Dogecoin, and all ERC-20, TRC-10, TRC-20, and BEP-2 tokens.
Is Magnum Wallet free?
+Yes, completely free to download and use. We earn a small commission on exchange transactions. There are no subscription fees, premium plans, or hidden charges.
Does Magnum work offline?
+After your initial wallet sync, Magnum works without an internet connection for viewing balances and signing transactions. You need internet only to broadcast a signed transaction to the network.
What operating systems does Magnum support?
+Windows 10+ (64-bit), macOS 10.15 Catalina or later (Apple Silicon and Intel both supported), and Linux via AppImage (Ubuntu 20.04+, Fedora 34+, Debian 11+).
Can I run Magnum on multiple computers?
+Yes. Install Magnum on as many machines as you like. Restore from your mnemonic phrase or encrypted backup file to access the same wallet on any device. No sync service involved.
Is there a mobile version?
+Currently Magnum is desktop-only (Windows, macOS, Linux). A mobile version is on the public roadmap and being discussed in the community. Vote on GitHub to push it up the priority list.
Does Magnum collect personal data?
+No. We require no registration, email, phone, or any personal information. No account required. All wallet data stays on your device only.
What encryption does Magnum use?
+AES-256-CBC with a key derived via PBKDF2 at 100,000 iterations using your password as the input. Your password never leaves your machine. Even an encrypted backup file is useless without the correct password.
Can Magnum freeze or seize my funds?
+No. Technically impossible. Magnum is a local application. We hold no keys, no user data, and no server connection to your wallet. A court order served to Magnum would produce nothing useful about your holdings.
What happens if Magnum shuts down?
+Nothing bad. Your funds are on the blockchain, not in Magnum. Your mnemonic phrase works in any BIP39-compatible wallet (Electrum, MetaMask, Trust Wallet, etc.). You can always recover without Magnum.
How do I back up my wallet?
+During wallet creation you receive a 12 or 24-word mnemonic phrase. Write it down and store offline. This phrase restores your entire wallet on any device. Export encrypted backup from Settings → Security.
How does the built-in exchange work?
+Magnum integrates with Changelly, Binance DEX, CoinSwitch and others. Swap 60,000+ pairs in the app. Best rates are automatically selected. Small exchange fees are factored into the displayed rate.
Does swapping require KYC?
+No. You don't create an account or verify identity to swap inside Magnum. Some providers may restrict certain pairs in specific jurisdictions, but there is no Magnum-side KYC requirement.
Which coins can I stake in Magnum?
+Tezos (XTZ) at approximately 5.6% APY and Cosmos (ATOM) via delegation at approximately 8.2% APY. Rewards are credited automatically to your wallet address at the end of each cycle.
What are Bitcoin fork claims?
+When Bitcoin or Ethereum undergoes a hard fork, holders of the original coin at the snapshot block receive an equal amount of the new coin. Magnum detects eligible forks automatically and lets you claim them in one click from the Earn tab. Over 20 forks are currently claimable.
Can I use Ledger or Trezor with Magnum?
+Yes. Magnum fully supports Ledger (Nano S, X, S Plus) and Trezor (Model One and T). View balances, send, exchange, and stake directly from your hardware wallet.
